First Baby Food and Sickness!
The day after Adelle's party Adelle came down with her first sickness; a cold. Poor girl. She had a slight fever, sneezes, and coughs. She just didn't feel well. She had her 4 month appointment the next day and she still got her shots at the doctor's recommendation. She then had a higher fever and was quite miserable. She got infant Tylenol for the first time. My poor baby.
Tuesday night I thought I would try brown rice cereal for the first time, even though she wasn't feeling the best still. She wasn't quite sure what to think of it.
Violet is 4 months old
There was a lot happening this past month. Violet started rolling over. She doesn't do it very often, but she is practicing.
Violet is VERY social and likes to be around the family as much as possible. She has to have attention and rarely likes being on her own. She can be pretty fussy at times because she doesn't like napping. She'd much rather be awake visiting. Sometimes it is hard to get her to eat as well, because of course she'd rather see what is going on around her. She can be especially upset around others outside the immediate family including aunts and grandmothers. Can you tell she has become somewhat high maintenance?
Violet still sleeps best on my lap during the day. She sleeps pretty well at night when she is swaddled and in her crib. For now during the day I've gotten used to her looking like this. On occasion I can get her to nap other places.
Violet can be pretty giggly at times and everyone tries to get her to laugh. She is also becoming interested in toys. She can reach out for things and her coordination is really improving. Right now she likes sitting in her rocker and pulling a toy which will play the ABC song. She will pull it over, and over, and over....
Adelle's Birthday Party
Last Saturday we celebrated Adelle's Birthday with extended family. She was super excited for her party and counted down the days and the minutes. When it was 1:00 she had to watch and wait for everyone to arrive.
Everyone hung out after a busy morning of cleaning.

Star of the Week
Last week for Adelle's Kindergarten class she was the "Star of the Week". We had to make a special poster all about her and her family to bring on Monday.
On Tuesday (her birthday) she wore a special birthday outfit. She got to bring and read her favorite book to her class. She chose the Bernstein Bears book on Manners because she felt her class could use the lesson.

Rolling
Yesterday (4/15/10) Violet was rolling over. Granted she was laying on a pillow so it was pretty easy to gently roll off and over. She did it a couple of times though and we cheered each time.

I love the spit string :) While I was at work today and while Wes was in the other room the girls say they witnessed Violet roll over in her crib onto her stomach and then back on her back. She would choose a time when neither of her parents are present. Wes said he heard a very loud cheer from the girls when he was in the other room. My baby is growing up so fast. **Sigh**
Colorful Easter Fashions
Grandma Julie gave these cute outfits to the girls on Easter. I had the girls hop quickly outside the next Sunday for a very casual photo shoot. I just love the bright colors. Adelle is also modeling her special purse that her Grandma Ellen brought back from China. Lydia sported her special purple purse from China that Sunday as well.
We had a hard time getting Violet to smile for the camera.
Lagoon Season Opener
Last Saturday I was just itching to get out of the house with the girls to do something fun. Poor Wes was busy doing taxes. I asked if he'd mind the girls and I venturing out and he told us to go for it. My wonderful step-mom bought us Lagoon season passes so the girls and I decided to go for the first time this season. The girls were "ecstatic" and couldn't wait to go. The weather forecast said it would be in the upper 60's so we went for it!
I set some ground rules before we left. There would be no whining, crying, or coaxing younger sisters to go on rides that they don't want to go on. Lydia and Adelle agreed.
The girls warmed up with the scrambler and the bumper cars.
It was a little chilly so I made sure to keep Violet warm.
Since I couldn't leave Violet alone of course Lydia ventured on some BIG rides all on her own, including the Rocket!
Adelle was pretty brave though and decided to try some new rides including the Flying Aces. She has grown since last year and can ride much more. She usually is pretty timid, but surprisingly she decided to push her limits.
I had the greatest time watching the girls! I wasn't bored in the least standing on the side seeing my sweethearts smiling faces!

The girls tried out a new ride called the Jumping Dragon. It looks super fun!

Violet got to go on her very first ride. The Merry Go Round. I don't know how I was lucky enough to snap this cute picture of Violet in her giraffe coat in front of the giraffe on the ride. She looks a little surprised :)
I love her sweet smile and her age of discovery!

What a fun adventure! Lydia decided to venture out on some of the larger rides like the swings and the Tidal Wave. Adelle decided to ride some of the smaller rides. She was itching to ride some rides alone. We got ice cream from Pioneer Village and you can see the ice cream ring around Adelle's mouth.

The girls rode the ladybug drop together, even though Adelle is usually afraid of heights. We were all planning on going on Dracula's Castle together, but Lydia backed out at the last moment when she found out that all four of us (Violet included) couldn't fit in one car. Adelle closed her eyes and ears almost the whole time, but I had fun. Violet clung on pretty tight to my hand which was super cute. The last ride the girls rode was Adelle's biggest ride ever, The Wild Mouse.

The sun was shining and the weather had warmed up to a perfect temperature, but at 4:15 we figured we should head home, especially so we could spend time with Wes. I drove home blissfully happy. I had gotten out of the house with my girls and had so much fun. It was absolutely wonderful. The girls were on their best behaviour the whole day and Violet really seemed to enjoy being out as well. I am really looking forward to going back again!

Easter
Last Sunday we celebrated Easter. I wasn't feeling very well, but other than that we had a great time. The girls woke up to an Easter egg hunt and baskets. Lydia and Adelle got their own special loofahs, candy, modeling clay, hair things, and peeps.

Violet got a rattle, a stuffed sheep, and a few little people.
