I don't usually vent on my blog, but I have just about had it! I wish people would educate themselves more fully when it comes to issues that effect them and sometimes don't effect them. I have gotten several e-mails through work about presidential candidates that just don't have any fact or basis to them. It is just a simple case of forwarding what comes their way. They personally haven't done any research but assume that all of these things are true.
Also, I am a little tired of everything related to Proposition 8 in California. I think there are individuals on both sides that are throwing in issues that are completely unrelated to the proposition. Things are being said that are hurtful and downright UNTRUE or are not related to what is trying to be done.
I know this is cliche, but can't we all just get along? If you are going to fight another side or throw out opinions please, please, please take the time to educate yourself on the issues.
By the way, Obama is not a citizen of Indonesia or a terrorist. We all can choose who we vote for. That is what makes America wonderful, but don't throw around untrue statements about either candidate. Far too many people will believe these statements and use them to make decisions about who to vote for. Education is the key here. Just a little bit of extra time to find truth.
I will now get off my soapbox. I must say I do feel a little better :) Thanks for listening!

The sniffles
So it appears everyone in my house today is feeling less than good. Wes has a full blown cold, Lydia has a headache and a sniffly nose, and Adelle's nose is running like crazy. I myself feel a little run down. I'm not sure if it is because I am coming down with something or if I have just over done it these past couple of days. We made an executive decision to lay low today and try to get better. Adelle was really sad when she found out that she is going to miss church but we explained that she would very likely get her friends sick at Sunbeams if she were to go. Poor girl! Here is hoping that some healing comes our way!
Empress Theatre Second Anniversary Gala
Last night Wes and I attended the Empress Theatre Gala. We had a wonderful time. The dinner was wonderful, the entertainment was great, and we had the best time seeing friends. We love supporting the Theatre any way we can and this was a fun way to do it. 
Trent spoke about the Theatre and the important role it plays in our community. Others spoke as well.
There were a few performances. Erin and Porter performed "Suddenly Seymour" from Little Shop of Horrors.
Several volunteers were recognized including the Nelsons and Kelly. There were 3 awards given to special actors including Amanda Heywood, Stephen Harmon, and Thomas Gasu.
Afterwards we enjoyed dancing. There is nothing like being on a date with my love and getting to dance.
Everyone rocking out!! I hope it was financially successful for the Empress. They had a steal of a deal on their season tickets last night. We almost bought them, but realized that our funds were low. Perhaps we will be in a few more shows this upcoming year and of course when we do that the show is free :) Thank you to everyone who planned, organized, and ran the event. We had a wonderful time and we are planning on attending again next year!
Thanks to Grandma Julie as well for watching the girls! They had a wonderful time and Wes and I really enjoyed going on a date together.

Free Chocolate Milk?
So the other day I came home from work and Wes was in the best mood! He just had to tell me his hillarious story. He was driving home with the girls the other day when they saw a sign for Free Chocolate Milk next to a Winder Dairy Truck. They just couldn't pass it up so they stopped to claim their yummy chocolatey goodness.
Come to find out in order to get the chocolate milk you had to listen to a sales pitch from Winder Dairy. Wes decides that this isn't going to stand. What does he say you ask?? His legal mind brings up contracts. He advised the milk man that the sign is a promise and contract for free chocolate milk and that they should be entitled to what was promised. The milk man looks over at his shoulder at another Winder Dairy Employee who says "You don't have to give him any". Wes proceeds to say something like "Oh, this is all of Winder Dairy doing this eh". Wes proceeds to turn to go and the milk man just freaks. He says that Wes and the girls can have Chocolate Milk and that he wasn't aware that he was breaking a Federal Law. The guy is just terrified and worried he has committed a crime!!! Wes informed the man that he wasn't committing a crime and thanked him for the chocolate milk.
What can I say? I of course probably would have just listened to the sales pitch or said "No Thank You", but Wes had to show the girls to stand up for truth and conviction. I am never going to look at the free milk signs the same again. After the story I was wondering where the chocolate milk was. He informed me that it was just small glasses of chocolate milk (not a container) and that it was delicious! Welcome to my world!

Lydia and the Honor Guard
Last night Lydia performed with the Honor Guard from her school. They performed at the "Meet the Candidates" night at Matheson Jr. High. The Honor Guard is an organization for 4th through 6th graders. They perform flag ceremonies and also focus on physical fitness. 
Her uniform is black pants, socks and shoes and a white shirt.
Here she is in the ceremony. There were several flags including the United States Flag, Utah Flag, Navy, Military, Army, and Air Force Flags. The leaders are pretty strict with the kids, but Lydia seems to like it a lot. The kids all did great.

So I came home from work on Monday and started making dinner. Adelle was cleaning her room. Wes and I went to check on her and oddly enough we found cut pieces of paper around her room. Wes knew right away that she must have gotten the scissors. I couldn't let dinner burn so I went back to what I was doing. Wes and Adelle were in the bedroom for a long time talking. I called out that dinner was done and they joined us.
Wes said "Adelle, tell mommy what you cut". My mind was just racing and wondering what on earth she had decided to shear. Her hair wasn't cut. I could see that just by looking at her. Well she starts out with "Paper". Then Wes says "What else". This went on for a while. I kept growing more nervous as the list went on. It ranged from paper, her sea lion's whiskers, the ties on a Sunday Dress and finally ended with Princess Fiona's hair. At least she just slightly shortened the ties on her dress and didn't cut them completely off. Poor Princess Fiona's hair will never grow back though. She was a souvenior from our California Vacation last year.
I guess it could have been so much worse. I of course told Adelle that we should never play with scissors. They just weren't any scissors either. They were my kitchen shears out of the cutting block!! I advised her how dangerous they are and that she could have cut herself. I actually have a scar from my kitchen shears when I stabbed myself in the wrist. Don't ask! Yes, it was an accident. She went to time out for 10 minutes and she will now have to live with "special" hair Fiona. I just had to laugh later when she wasn't listening. Adelle and her antics~!!

Seven Random Facts about me
My friend Steph tagged me to post 7 random facts about myself. Here goes nothing...
1. I get really excited for General Conference every 6 months. I like to catch each and every session if I can. I have a hard time sitting and watching conference though. I almost always fall asleep no matter how hard I try. So I have come up with a plan for myself. I usually have some sort of project. This morning I deep cleaned the house while listening to conference on my MP3 player. This afternoon I cross stitched. I always feel so uplifted after listening:)
2. My biggest goal right now is to become a stay at home mom. I can't wait for the day when I can be home with my girls and take care of them. I have wonderful images of what it will be like. I see myself in a clean home with something baking in the oven giving the whole home a pleasant aroma. I can imagine walking my girls to and from school each and every day and imagine having another child. It probably sounds a little cheesy, but that is me.
3. I love a clean house. When the house is clean I am able to relax easier and am able to feel the spirit more. Working 40 hours a week (45 this last week) makes it hard to keep it that way. I have learned at times to just ignore the full sink of dishes and toys scattered though out the house. I would go crazy if I didn't. I think I may have picked up this trait from my mother.
4. I will rarely read grown up, modern books anymore unless they have been recommended to me by someone I trust. I usually stick to the classics or Juvenile Fiction (Harry Potter Series, Series of Unfortunate Events, etc.). Too many times I have picked up a modern novel and found that it is filled with swearing, sex scenes, or other things I don't care to immerse myself in.
5. I love to kiss and snuggle my girls. They get them when I leave every day and before bed every night. It has become a habit for all of us in the family. We like being close.
6. I enjoy cooking when I can take the time to experiment with the food and ingredients. Usually dinners are the best when I have followed a "craving" for something. My family has learned to trust these experiments. Sometimes they have been leery to try new things, but once they bite into it they generally love it.
7. I enjoy simplifying things in my life. I like the fact that there is little that we buy as a family. We have learned that there are few things that you need to buy or have. It is okay to have a small house, worn clothes and used cars. All that really matters to me is my family and the gospel. I love finding joy in the simple things.
Well I probably took this too seriously, but I enjoyed sharing. I also enjoyed reading Liz's and Steph's facts :)
