We had to wait about two hours for our time to hike up the canyon so we ate our lunch and took a few pictures. Violet did pretty well in the baby backpack.
It was a pretty warm day, but we made sure we stayed hydrated, not too hydrated though. The last time we went poor Adelle had an accident in the cave.
Lydia enjoyed trekking ahead. The scenery was amazing!
When the girls saw this tunnel through the mountain they thought we had already reached the cave.
Violet was exactly 8 months old. I thought for sure she would fall asleep for most of it. She surprised me though and stayed awake until just the last 30 minutes or so.
When we made it to the top we were all pretty hot and tired, but the cave cooled us down soon enough.
I had to be pretty careful carrying Violet through the cave. You can't bring in any hard carriers so I just held her in my arms. She was pretty squirmy and the cave was slippery in spots, but I managed to keep both of us safe. If you have a soft backpack you have to wear it on your front. 
We were all super fascinated with the cave. Adelle had a LOT of questions for our guide.
After we were down viewing the cave we headed down the mountain. Lydia's knee was bothering her so we took our time. We found this little bird. He responded to my whistles and came pretty close to us. I felt like Snow White :)
One of the things we had seen in the cave is a rock formation that looks like an ice cream sundae. We also saw several formations that look like bacon. These formations inspired us to spend our hard earned money at Leatherby's. YUM!!! From there we quickly ran over to Wal-Mart to do the school shopping at a frantic pace. We arrived home super tired, but very happy we'd had our adventure!

In the years to come, your girls will reflect back with fondness of family hikes and adventurous excursions. My kids considered the mall trip as a hike before we went to Leatherby's. ...j
